Without Good Keyword Research, Marketing is like trying to nail custard to a wall!
When we all start out on this journey as rookie marketers, we are all a bit clueless. How do I start in this business? How do I go about creating a website? What will my niche be? How do I get traffic to my website? How do I convert that traffic into income? Once I find something that works, how do I make it grow? All these questions are perfectly natural, and some of them must be answered before we know where we are going.
’Hey, i’ll get you to No.1 on Google’!
We’ve all seen the emails where the ‘guru’ offers to get you on the first page of Google for only $50 per month. This is actually a huge con, because it doesn’t really matter if you’re on the first page of Google if no-one actually searches for the keyword you think you’re ranked for!
To make any headway in the World of Affiliate Marketing, you need to pick a niche, establish it can be monetised, then drive traffic to it by writing on subjects that are searched for. This is your keyword research that everyone talks about. Good keyword research will make the difference between your website being a roaring success, or languishing in mediocrity.
To make all of the keyword research as easy as possible, you need a research tool that lets you extract the information you need, without being too complicated or confusing. Cast your eyes over Jaaxy.
Website : https://www.jaaxy.com
The blurb says:
[su_quote cite=”Jaaxy.com”]”Jaaxy is the industry’s only keyword research tool platform that was developed by affiliate marketers FOR affiliate marketers. There are an incredible number of hands on processes that are very time consuming when it comes to your business. Keyword and competition research can now be a breeze! With Jaaxy you are getting the most advanced, yet useful platform in the world for managing all aspects of keyword, website, competition, and market research”.[/su_quote]
I’d never heard of Jaaxy before
I wasn’t aware of Jaaxy as a keyword Search tool until I joined Wealthy Affiliate in 2018. Like most people, I had previously relied on Google Adwords for my keyword research, but I was always suspicious that Google was skewing the results in it’s own favour. After all, Adwords earns $billions for Google!
Introducing Jaaxy – An anatomy of the program
I know, it’s an unfortunate name, it obviously means something different in Canada to the UK (where I am), but underneath the bonnet there’s a powerful platform waiting to help you get your research right.
The first thing to realise is, you can use Jaaxy completely independently of Wealthy Affiliate. You don’t need a Wealthy Affiliate account to use it as it has it’s very own sign up and login system (although you also have access to it from your Wealthy Affiliate dashboard too).
The Starter Account is the basic level of access, and it is free. You’ll get 30 free searches as a free account member, enough to see the power of the system in front of you. All that is needed is that you create an account with your name and email address, accompanied by a password of your own choice.
On signing in, you are presented with the main Jaaxy Dashboard. You will see the Main Menu at the top of the screen. From here you can get to all the different modules you can use. Everything is neatly laid out so you don’t get confused.
Here is the functional detail of each module, following the menu structure.
Simply submit the keyword Phrase you wish to investigate into the box and press the Find Keywords button. You’ll be presented with a list of results that Jaaxy has found. I searched for ‘seo’ and got the following
Alternative URL search
Alternatively, if you select the Phrase box and change it to ‘URL’, you can search a web page and the table will display all of the keywords it ranks for, along with the full details. This is very powerful, allowing you to spy on competitors web pages to see which keywords they rank for.
The keyword results are displayed in table format and contain the following detail.
Avg : The average number of searches that the keyword receives per month
Traffic : Visits to your website if you achieve first page rankings in the search engines
QSR : Quoted Search Results – the number of competing websites ranked in Google for this exact keyword
KQI : Keyword Quality Indicator. Green is Great, Yellow is OK and Red is Poor
SEO : A score based on traffic and competition, the higher the score, the more likely you will rank for this keyword on the first page. Scale of 1-100, high score is better
Domains : Availability of domains that are related to the keyword
Related : Keywords that are related to your target keyword
Brainstorm : A list of keywords to help you brainstorm
This is a way of laying out keywords with additional word suffixes. For example, you can see phrases starting seo + ‘a’, seo + ‘b’, seo + ‘c’ and the table will display phrases based on the those.
Search : Click the ‘Search on this’ link to perform a keyword search on this keyword.
Brainstorm : Click on ‘Add’ to add this keyword to your brainstorming list
On the left hand side of the table you will see checkboxes which allow you to save desired keywords to a named keyword list. Once you select a keyword, a box appears on the right end of the slider. Either create a new list or add your selected to keywords to one that already exists.
When you save a keyword, it is added to a list; this is where you can access the lists you’ve created. For example, here are two lists I created from earlier in the year for research I was doing. As far as I know, there’s no limit on the number of lists you can create, but try to group them logically.
List Name : The name of your saved keyword list
Keywords : The count of the number of keywords you have saved to this particular list
Traffic : Estimated traffic that this list of keywords will achieve if you rank on the first page of the search engines
Last Saved : The date when this list was last updated
Export : Export the data for download into .txt or .csv file format
Actions : Actions carried on the saved list (View, Edit or Delete)
The system keeps a log of everything you’ve searched for within Jaaxy, so you can go back to it if you need to. This is very handy as, unless you are very disciplined in your documentation, you’ll forget what you researched. This helps hugely, and you can look through all of your historical research.
Keyword : The keyword that you entered into the search box and performed a search for
Search Type : What kind of search was performed (keywords/alphabet soup/affiliate program/search analysis)
Details : Details of the search (Phrase/URL/Search Engine)
Date : The date when the search was performed
Search analysis lets you see where particular keywords rank in the three main Search Engines – Google, Bing and Yahoo. From the results you can see the position of the keyword in the SE rankings (it lists the first 10 pages) along with the details of the entry which can be seen when the ‘View Details’ button on the right of each entry is clicked.
Here’s the extra information that becomes available when the View Details button is clicked. This is real down-and-dirty info that you can use to augment your research. Especially useful for improving rankings for your own website by examining how the competition is ranking.
Meta Description : The <meta description> tags
Meta Keywords : The <meta keywords> tags, along with the keyword density
Word Count : Total number of words on the website
Links on Site : Total number of internal and external links on the page
Backlinks : Number of sites that link to this website
Alexa Rank : Current Alexa Rank of the website
Adsense : Does this site have Google Adsense Ads installed? (Yes/No)
Built into Jaaxy is the ability to search for affiliate programs that broadly match your chosen keywords. This saves time, as well as having to independently search on the affiliate networks themselves, but sometimes I find the results are a little unreliable. The thing about platforms like Clickbank is that some affiliate items appear and disappear, or get renamed, and I don’t think Jaaxy necessarily picks up these changes well. Maybe CBEngine would be a better solution for Clickbank. Anyhow, here’s the info on how it works.
Simply type in your keyword search term, select the affiliate network (limited to Commission Junction, Linkshare, Digital River and Clickbank) then ‘Find Keywords’.
Affiliate Program Name : The name of the affiliate program
Product Website : The website associated with this affiliate program
Commission : The commission details
Alexa Rank : The Alexa.com traffic ranking for this website (lower = more traffic)
Network : The affiliate network that this product or service is part of
The Brainstorm section allows you to build a list of keywords to drill down further into. You can tap into current social media trends here to use with your campaigns too.
Brainstorm Queue : A list of keywords to help you brainstorm
Rank : The rank of how popular this keyword is in the respective feed
Google Trends : Feed from Google Trends
Alexa Topics : Feed from Alexa hot topics
Amazon Best Sellers : Feed from the Amazon bestsellers list
Twitter Trends : Feed of trending keywords on Twitter
Site Rank Search is designed to allow you to search for any keyword on any website and see if and where that keyword is currently ranked in Google, Bing or Yahoo.
If the keyword is found in an index, the system displays it’s position, and page, as well as details of the entry as it would currently be displayed in Search Engine results. The keywords are bolded when found in the meta data.
Once a keyword has been searched, you can track it within Jaaxy, so you don’t have to manually repeat the search over and over again.
Keyword Tracking can be Daily, Twice Weekly, Weekly, Twice a Month or Monthly.
If you tracked a bunch of keyword rankings, they are shown on the Tracked Rankings table, along with the results. Freshly scanned keywords will appear towards the top of the table. The position will be accompanied by a trend arrow which tells you how it has moved since the last scan.
Please note that the amount of scans you can run is dictated by your membership level. The free level will not allow you to trend more than a couple of keywords on a regular basis. Higher levels of membership give you more flexibility.
Keyword : The keyword that you entered into the search box and performed a search on
URL : The URL that you entered into the search box and performed a search on
Scans : The total number of times the system has scanned for the keyword
Frequency : How often the keyword is scanned
Google : It shows Google position
Yahoo : It shows Yahoo position
Bing : It shows Bing position
Tracking : Is the tracking on or off
Bin : Delete the keyword from the Tracked Rankings list
Jaaxy has one of the most exciting affiliate programs available anywhere online and you can earn consistent revenue by simply referring others to the community!
If you wish to promote Jaaxy, you are given an affiliate link which you can use to gain commissions.
Here is the commission structure. As you can see, the affiliate program is very generous and good income can be made.
To the right of the screen is a little calculator that allows you to play around with referral levels, upgrade % and membership length to allow you to illustrate your possible income levels.
The My Stats page gives you details of how your Jaaxy promotions are going.
Links and Tracking
This is the area of your membership in which you can pick up your affiliate links to earn with Jaaxy. You’ll get three links in this format:

The videos are excellent and are a walkthrough of all the main parts of the system and are the equivalent of an over-the-shoulder training session. First class training and the best way of showing how it all works.
Unfortunately I can’t show you the videos so you’ll need a basic membership level to view them.
