The 12 Minute Affiliate

I’ve decided to do a ‘12 Minute Affiliate’ piece as it comes out of the Devon Brown stable and it is one of the top 10 placed opportunities marketed today.

When products are selling like hot cakes, you know something is right. The 12 Minute Affiliate System is one of those items and sells fast, so I decided to investigate.

In the words of Eric Cantona

“When the Seagulls follow the trawler, it’s because sardines are being thrown into the sea”.

As an entrepreneur, you’ll hopefully be picking up on signals like this.

The 12 Minute Affiliate sales video is headed like this.  I checked out Devon Brown’s social media profiles just to prove he is a real guy and found Devon is a highly respected marketer, public speaker and is a larger than life personality. He’s an Internet Entrepreneur, Blogger, Success Coach, Speaker, Emcee, and Hip-Hop dancer. What a combination!

He’s appeared onstage alongside such luminaries as Gary Vaynerchuk and Tony Robbins, so is a force in the industry. For this reason, I don’t doubt his gravity as a bone-fide personality, but what of his product?

A pretty lofty claim (those numbers are pretty big) if I may say so, but let’s have a look at the package more closely to see what’s going on.

As I said, Devon Brown is a well known dude on the scene, so I was interested to find out what he’d come up with because the CBEngine data said this affiliate package was selling pretty well. Always a good sign.

The ‘12 Minute Affiliate’ product looks to have been around for about a year, but it took about 6 months to gain significant traction amongst marketers, who are responsible for about 75% of total sales according to CBEngine.

What is 12 Minute Affiliate?

12 Minute Affiliate is a Done For You (DFY) Affiliate Marketing Product

The main pitch of the ‘12 Minute Affiliate’ is that it is an out of the box solution for an affiliate marketer first starting out. Devon reckons that making money with ‘12 Minute Affiliate’ is as easy as ordering a pizza (see graphic above).

The 12 minute affiliate system is all managed from an online user platform which looks very neat and tidy, with all of the options accessed via the left hand menu once logged in.

The 12 Minute Affiliate system is marketed as a simple solution because all of the hard work has been done by Devon and his team.  All we need to do is set up the system by filling in the details and the money should come in, right?

The system promotes Clickbank products. For those that don’t know, Clickbank is a marketplace for ebooks and courses, some of which pay a very handsome level of commission to the marketer. The 12 Minute Affiliate system is designed to sell these for you.

How The 12 Minute Affiliate actually works

So, I decided to sign up for 12 minute affiliate to see if it’s as easy to set up as they say, and whether you can indeed set it up and have it running in 12 minutes or less.

My review and walk through of The 12 Minute Affiliate by Devon Brown.

This isn’t going to be just an ‘outside review’. I’ll give you screenshots from inside the product to show you how it’s all set up. I document EVERY step.

The first thing to do is log-in. Thankfully the 12 minute affiliate sign in screen is very simple.

The whole concept of the ‘12 Minute Affiliate’ system is that it can be setup very quickly (12 minutes). After logging in, the dominant thing is the QuickStart Menu. You need to complete each step in order to get the whole thing up and running in the minimum time.

When you first start the quickstart checklist, the checkboxes are blank, but get a green tick once you’ve completed the particular step. This is done by clicking the black arrow to the right of each item and follow the instructions exactly.

Here is the complete wakthrough, with comments where appropriate.

Select A Niche If You Are A Basic Member (most people start this way)

Before creating your affiliate account at Clickbank, you will be prompted to select a niche if you are a basic member (you cannot change niches after you make your selection).

Basic Members will see a page as shown below.

12 Minute Affiliate Gold members can skip the above step, as they’ve got access to all of the affiliate niche markets already.

Now, it’s time to create your free affiliate account at Clickbank.

STEP #1 Create A Free Affiliate Account (2 Minutes)

If you already have a Clickbank account and wish to use that account for 12 Minute Affiliate, follow the 3 steps in the image below.

Otherwise, go to the next image and begin creating your Clickbank account.

A few points to keep in mind as we begin this process:

Your Clickbank ID (also known as your “Nickname”) is chosen/created by YOU as part of the process of you creating your Clickbank account.

You MUST have a Clickbank ID/Nickname to earn affiliate commissions.

Please note that your Clickbank ID/Nickname is NOT your email address.

Creating your Clickbank account is extremely easy and consists of 2 major parts.

PART #1: Create your Clickbank Profile
PART #2: Create your Clickbank Nickname (also referred to sometimes as your Clickbank ID)

PART #1: STEPS TO CREATING YOUR CLICKBANK PROFILE

(Note: If you know already have a Clickbank Profile, you may click here to skip ahead to Part #2)

1. To create a new Clickbank account go to https://accounts.clickbank.com/master/create-account
2. Fill in the boxes (see image below):

a. Choose your Country in the dropdown b. Enter Your First Name
c. Enter your Last Name
d. Enter your Phone Number
e. Enter your Email Address
f. Create a Password that you’ll remember

1. Once you have filled in the boxes above. You must click on “Continue to Terms and Conditions”

5. Click on ‘Join Clickbank!’

1. Review the Terms and Conditions and scroll down to bottom and click on “Accept Terms and Conditions”

1. When you see the box labeled “Want a Head Start?” click on “No, I got this on my own”

7. Click on “Complete My Profile”

8. Fill out the form including your Street Address (this is where your checks will get sent).

Your Payee information (see image below)

• Your “Payee Name” should be the name on your bank account.

If you have a REGISTERED business (like an LLC or an S-Corp), this is likely your company name. If you don’t have a registered business, then your payee name will likely be your legal first and last name.

• Your Tax ID is one of the following

If you have a Registered Business, you should know your Tax ID number. If you do NOT have a registered business, you’ll want to use your Social Security Number (if you live in the U.S.)

• If you’re at all confused as to what to use, simply click on the “?” icon next to each field.

1. When you get to the section labeled “Let’s Optimize Your Performance”. Select ‘Promote products as an affiliate’ from the dropdown menu.

11. Select your Company’s Annual Revenue.

12. Click “Save”

1. Proceed to Part #2 below.

PART #2: Creating your Clickbank Nickname (also referred to sometimes as your Clickbank ID)

1. To create a Clickbank ID (AFTER you’ve completed your Clickbank profile):

a. Make sure you’re logged into to your Clickbank Account (Log in using your Email address) https://accounts.clickbank.com/login.htm

b. Click on the ‘Accounts’ Link on the left side

c. Click on the ‘Create Account’ button (see below)

d. Under Account Type, select ‘Affiliate (Promote products)’

e. Click the box labeled ‘Nickname’ (see image below) From here you get to CREATE the Clickbank Nickname you want.

Often, people will select the same Nickname/User ID for their 12 Minute Affiliate account and their Clickbank account, but this is up to you.

Type your Clickbank Nickname (also known as a User ID) into the field provided.

f. Click the ‘Create Account’ Button

Once you’ve clicked “Create Account” you should be good to go, and you should see your Clickbank Nickname inside your Clickbank Account. Now, copy your Clickbank Nickname to your clipboard.

Then paste your Clickbank nickname into the box in Quickstart Step #1. Please make sure you do not accidentally copy a “space” before or after your Clickbank Nickname when copying/pasting in your Clickbank nickname.

Then you will see this:

STEP #2 Get Your Auto-Responder (2 Minutes)

Note: If you already are a client of Aweber, you can skip this step and proceed to the next step to set up the autoresponder (and your list).

To create a new account at Aweber, click here and then enter your first and last name along with your email address (for Aweber billing purposes) as shown in the form below.

Once this information has been entered, click the big green “Start your 30-day free trial today” button.

Next, you will be prompted to enter some additional information such as your address and credit card information.

Note that your login name is automatically created and you can change it if you wish by clicking the edit button, making the changes, and then save.

You will also need your credit card expiration date and security code. These are usually located on the back side of the card. Aweber shows you where to find these. Just click on the “WHERE IS THE CVV CODE?” link below the expiration date box.

Now scroll down a bit and look at the “Prepay and save” section as shown in the image on the next page.

This is where you can save a good bit of money in the long-run by pre-paying for the quarterly or annual subscription.

Now it’s time to select your billing option. I have chosen the Annual plan so I can save as much money as possible.

Click the links to read the Service Agreement and Data Processing Terms and then click the big green “Start My Free Trial” button.

When you have made your selection click the button to start your subscription.

On this next screen, click “Sign In”.

Next, go to the inbox of the email address you used to create your Aweber account.

In one of the emails Aweber sent, the subject line should say “…your account is ready!” You will see your login name. Click the “Create password” button.

You will then be prompted to create a password for your account.

It’s best if you type the login name and password into a document that you save for future reference, and then copy/paste the password into the boxes on the form. This avoids misspellings when saving your password.

Click the “Update” button.

The next page has a form where you will enter information that will be used in creating your first list. See the image below.

MAKE SURE YOU WRITE DOWN/REMEMBER YOUR AWEBER USERNAME AND PASSWORD!!

For “Company name” you can enter your name. If you have a business name, you can enter it here, but a business name is not necessary. You can select “No, I don’t have a website”. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the “Next” button.

The next page asks for some information concerning the list you are creating.

Even if this is your first list, as time goes by you likely will have quite a few lists in your account. So, here is a recommended naming format that can help you keep all your lists and their purposes straight in your mind.

For List Name, enter your first and last initial (all lower case) followed by “12ma-homebusiness”, or “12ma-fitness”, or “12ma-persdev”. (Depending on the niche you’re setting this up for).

Be sure to include your initials at the beginning, so if your name is Joe Miller, the above list names would look like:

jm12ma-homebusiness jm12ma-fitness jm12ma-persdev

For the Description, enter the niche and optin list. So that your fitness list description would be, “Fitness optin list”.

Click “Next”.

Now, just scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Complete Setup”.

Go back to the “GET YOUR AUTO-RESPONDER ACCOUNT” window.

This completes the section on creating your Aweber account. The next section will cover setting up your autoresponder.

But, if you want our staff to set up your autoresponder for you and load all the followup messages, create your lists and take care of all the settings, and then test everything to make sure it all works properly, You can skip the next two steps and go on to the Optional Done-For-You Setup item on the Quickstart Checklist. Just make sure you have your Aweber and Clickbank information if you want us to set everything up for you.

STEP #3 Set Up Your Auto-Responder (Step-By-Step Instructions)

NOTE: If you would rather have the 12 Minute Affiliate staff set up your autoresponder for you, skip this step and the next one, and go to the (Optional) step on your Quickstart checklist. Just make sure you
have your Aweber and Clickbank information if you want us to set everything up for you.

*If you created your Aweber account after January 31, 2020, the following instructions will not be accurate for importing the followup series/campaign.

Until this instruction document is updated, please refer to the video shown below, in the Step #3 section (Setting Up Your Autoresponder) of the 12 Minute Affiliate Getting Started page.

Log into your Aweber account and follow the steps in the video above to set up your autoresponder.
If your Aweber account was created BEFORE January 31, 2020 you can follow the instructions below.

From the Quickstart checklist…

If you are continuing from Step #2 above, you may see a page like the one below. Don’t worry about subscribers right now. Click the “List Options” tab.

If you are a CURRENT Aweber client, or if you are creating your second or third 12 minute affiliate lists, go to Manage Lists, click the green “Create A List” button, and proceed.

This is the List Options page. Read in below the image for additional details in completing this page.

*In the example above, I placed the initials (“JM” if your name was Joe Miller) at the beginning of the List Name, so the above list names would look like:

jm12ma-homebusiness jm12ma-fitness jm12ma- persdev

This format using your initials is optional, but you’ll see how I’ve made it clear which niche my list has to do with.

If you are in more than one niche, you will need to create one list for each niche. You wouldn’t want to email your home business list an offer pertaining to fitness. This could cause people to unsubscribe from your list.

Be sure your “From” name and email address are correct. This is the email address you want to show as being sent FROM when the autoresponder sends email to THIS list.

You can use different email addresses for different lists so make sure what you have entered here is what you want.

!!! Scroll to the bottom and click the “Save settings” button.

MAKE SURE YOU COPY YOUR COMPLETE UNIQUE LIST ID! YOU WILL
NEED THIS LATER ON IN THE SETUP PROCESS!

Next, hover your mouse over the “Messages” tab near the top of the page. In the Messages drop down, click on “Legacy Follow up Series”

As shown in the next image, scroll to the middle of the page and click on “Go to Follow Up Sharing”.

 

Here you will enter the following code based on the niche this list is being used with. See Image 3.9 for a list of codes.

Please make sure you do not copy-paste any spaces either before or after the sharing code.

FOLLOWUP SHARING CODES:

This process may take a few minutes to complete.

When the follow up messages have completed the upload process, you can see the list of messages from the Legacy Follow Up Series page, a portion of which is shown in the image below.

Do NOT make any changes to these messages or the entire follow up process may not work properly, if at all.

Once the follow up messages have been uploaded…(see image below).

Click the “Personalize Your List” link.

From the “Personalize Your List” tab in the left sidebar…

Enter your name or your company name in the field labeled, “Company Name.”

In the “Email Signature” box, type in a closing and your name, followed by the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) notice.

See the example below for the signature that includes a notice to your subscribers that you may earn a commission if they buy something through your link.

EXAMPLE:

NOTE: You can substitute similar language in the email signature to that shown above. I am not an attorney and cannot provide legal advice so I can only show you what I often use in my own emails.
Scroll to the bottom and click the “Save settings” button. Then click on the “Confirmation Message” link. See image below.

 

While on the “Confirmation Message” page

Scroll down to the “Confirmation messages settings” section.

There SHOULD be two buttons. The first one will appear Green, the second will already be Red. You want to be sure BOTH of these boxes are RED (OFF).

NOTE: In some cases, you may find this section does not have the two buttons. The missing button will be the button you need to turn off the double opt-in (also referred to as Confirmed Opt-in). This is the TOP button in the image above.

In the rare event this option is not there for you, contact Aweber Support and ask them to make this option available for you. Or, you can contact 12 Minute Affiliate Support for assistance.

Scroll to the bottom and click the “Save settings” button as shown in image above.

While on the “Personalize Your List” page…

**Important Note – The 12min id is the user id you created when you set up your 12 Minute Affiliate account. IT MUST BE TYPED IN, YOU CANNOT COPY AND PASTE. Even though this would be easy to do, you must MANUALLY type in the User Id.

If you copy and paste the information, and then save and close out from the setup THE INFORMATION WILL NOT SAVE and the account will not be properly set up, risking the loss of any traffic that may be sent or going to your account.

Once you have MANUALLY typed this information in Steps #1 and #2 shown in the image below, scroll down and be sure to click “Save settings” (Step #3 in the image above).

If you are going to be setting up more than just one niche (Gold Members), go back to the beginning of Step #3 and repeat these steps to set up the additional lists in Aweber.

Once you have set up all your lists, or just the one for Basic Members, you can log out of your Aweber account and go back to the Quickstart Checklist and Check the box as shown in the image below. Then click the ‘X’ to close the “SETTING UP YOUR AUTO-RESPONDER” window.

 

Now it’s time to activate your funnels in the next step!

STEP #4 Activate Your 12 Minute Affiliate Funnels Skip this step and go to the (Optional) step if you would rather the 12MA staff set your system up for you.

If you are a Gold Member, see the image below.

After clicking the “ACTIVATE” button, you will see a progress indicator similar to the image below.

(Optional) – Done-For-You Setup (2 Minutes)

This option is for you if you want the 12 Minute Affiliate staff to do the setup for you.

Now, complete the order form shown in the image below.

 

Click the Green “Download or Access Digital Product” Button, in the image above.

Then, on the next page provide your autoresponder user name and password, your Clickbank nickname, and your 12 Minute Affiliate password. If you are involved with other affiliate programs or if there are any other affiliate products you would like the 12 Minute Affiliate system to promote on your behalf, enter up to 3 affiliate url’s on separate lines. Each url should begin with https:// or http://
Then, click the green “Submit My Information” button.

Once you have submitted your information you may decide to order Done For You Traffic before your setup has actually been completed.

When the traffic order form asks you where you would like your traffic sent, just enter http://DoneForYouSetup.com.

This will signal our traffic department to insert the correct optin page for you.

 

STEP #5 Get Targeted Traffic (2 Minutes)

You will see your optin page image in the left column, below and the “Bridge” page image to its right.

You can always come back and change the optin page, and you can also select which products to promote, and in what order.

Now you are at the “Get Traffic” order form as shown below.

If either Step #1 or #2 in the image below are not automatically filled out for you, just click the appropriate button and make your selection.

 

 

 

When all of the above steps have been completed, see the image below.

 

Notice the image below shows the box on the QuickStart check list has been “checked” showing this step has been completed.

Congratulations! You have completed the steps necessary to get your online business up and running!

Is 12 Minute Affiliate a Scam?

Almost certainly not a scam. Devon Brown is a highly respected internet marketer and personality, so it’s unlikely that he’d be running a scam. The 12 Minute Affiliate program also seems to be highly rated and is very professionally marketed. It’s quite a slick little system and it does take out a hell of a lot of work that you’d otherwise have to do from scratch yourself.

I think that 12 Minute Affiliate is a little optimistic in it’s claims that it can all be set up in only 12 minutes, but even if it takes an hour it’s pretty impressive to have it configured in so short a time.

It isn’t a program to join if you are completely on your arse as a marketer. It does cost a little money to set up AWeber and your Traffic source, so you need to have some money to invest, but it seems that those investments are sound and legitimate. AWeber is probably the leading mailing list/autoresponder software out there and is relatively cheap when starting out.

Buying traffic is really the great unknown, because you are only really buying leads, you don’t know that the traffic will lead to people going to your email list and the numbers will really only reveal themselves after testing the system out, but if you don’t try it, you’ll never know!

Does the system benefit Devon more than the user?

Yes, I would say Devon will probably make far more from 12 Minute Affiliate than any individual user will. However that will be true of any well promoted quality affiliate product. The author is a businessman and has a successful product. That doesn’t mean you can’t make good money from Devon’s product too though, by piggy-backing on his reputation. The software is good and works.

Additional Costs

AWeber – Aweber has a 30-day trial period, so you can use that along with your 14-day trial period with 12 Minute Affiliate. But after 30 days, you’ll be charged $19 per month.

Paid Traffic – Yes, you need traffic to be successful with your Affiliate Marketing efforts – and 12 Minute Affiliate has a built-in traffic source. You can buy traffic from them so that you can build your list and (hopefully) make sales. You can also opt for Free traffic but it takes away the real point of the package. The paid traffic is where Devon makes his $$$. Don’t worry about it.

Upsells – These mainly relate to the membership package, you get to choose from 2 options:

• Basic membership: You’re getting the basic membership when you first sign up to them. This is priced at $47 per month or a one-time fee of $397 for lifetime.

12 Minute Affiliate is letting you test drive their product for 14 days (for $9.95). They say that if you like the program, you can keep it for less than the price of a cup of coffee a day. Please know that they’re not giving it to you for free… you’ll need to pay $47 per month to keep using the system, but this is a taster to see if it works for you and in my opinion is well worth checking out to see if it works for you.

• Gold membership: This will cost you $97 per month or a one-time fee of $797. Not cheap, but it will get you priority benefits which may make the difference.

Disclaimer 

There are no absolute guarantees, and 12 Minute Affiliate agrees.

At the bottom of the 12 Minute Affiliate sales page is a disclaimer that says they’re not guaranteeing you’ll earn money with their product. They said your earning potential will depend on you and the efforts you put into your online business. For me, their disclaimer is saying that their product is not sure to work for everyone. That’s pretty standard for any affiliate product. You only get out what you put in.

Signing up for 12 Minute Affiliate

Signing up for 12 Minute Affiliate is very simple and it’s relatively cheap as a package as it stands (provided you go for the Beginner option), but the cost of the paid traffic would be the major obstructive expense going forward, unless you are looking to promote high ticket stuff. You are advised to try the startup option to see if it suits your strategy.

Summary

I’d give ‘12 Minute Affiliate’ a thumbs up. It’s very slick software, but you’ll need to throw a bit of money at it just to give it a chance to work, and you may feel that defeats the object a bit for a beginner, but you don’t get something for nothing.

12 Minute Affiliate is a very popular program though, so that’s why I include it here and i’d put it in my list of things to try.
